Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Satin Angora?
The Satin Angora officially became a recognized breed in 1987. They are a commercial type rabbit suited for meat production. Besides this, they produce a unique fiber that is easy to care for. With hollow hairs that give the coat its sheen, as well as a smaller amount of fiber produced, they stand apart from other angoras. Satin Angoras naturally shed their wool every few months, so we use this opportunity to spin it into soft, luxurious yarn. The most enjoyable aspect of a Satin Angora is their sweet and curious personality, which makes them a wonderful pet.
What is a Velveteen Lop?
A Velveteen Lop rabbit is a new breed. To be accepted as a recognized breed in the American Rabbit Breeders' Association, a new breed must be successfully presented 3 times before the ARBA committee within a 5 year period. The Velveteen Lop is still in development. Starting in 1990, dedicated breeders have been striving toward achieving acceptance by the ARBA. This is an arduous task, still underway. As of 2025, the Velveteen Lop is showable, with limited awards until its acceptance. What makes this breed so lovely is its velvety coat, with 15" ears and an adorably sweet temperament.
