Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Satin Angora?

The Satin Angora officially became a recognized breed in 1987.  They are a commercial type rabbit suited for meat production.  Besides this, they produce a unique fiber that is easy to care for.  With hollow hairs that give the coat its sheen, as well as a smaller amount of fiber produced, they stand apart from other angoras.  Satin Angoras naturally shed their wool every few months, so we use this opportunity to spin it into soft, luxurious yarn.  The most enjoyable aspect of a Satin Angora is their sweet and curious personality, which makes them a wonderful pet.

What is a Velveteen Lop?

A Velveteen Lop rabbit is a new breed.  To be accepted as a recognized breed in the American Rabbit Breeders' Association, a new breed must be successfully presented 3 times before the ARBA committee within a 5 year period.  The Velveteen Lop is still in development. Starting in 1990, dedicated breeders have been striving toward achieving acceptance by the ARBA.  This is an arduous task, still underway.  We are involved in continuing the development of the breed.  At this time, the Velveteen Lop is showable, with limited awards until its acceptance.  What makes this breed so lovely is its velvety coat, with 15" ears and an adorably sweet temperament.

Do you always have bunnies available?

We have a very small rabbitry.  You may have to wait for a litter to be born and raised to the minimum age of 8 weeks before we can place a bunny in a new home.  We usually raise a litter when we need more stock as we strive to meet the ARBA Standards of Perfection.

How do I purchase one of your bunnies?

With a developing breed such as the Velveteen Lop, we give preference to those also involved with breeding.  This insures that the breed continues toward the goal of ARBA recognition and will help to maintain this beautiful breed with consistency in type, fur, and personality.

Our Satin Angoras come in many colors.  If you are a fiber artist, we can help you find the perfect color for your needs.  We also have ruby-eye white, whose shed fiber can be dyed any color you choose.

Contact us with your preferences, and we will let you know if we have anything available or expected in upcoming litters.  We do not take deposits until the litter has been evaluated.  Once we decide how many we are placing, we will post photos and descriptions of bunnies, and nonrefundable deposits can be made toward the bunny of choice.

How do I pick up my bunny?

If you live locally to us, we can arrange a designated public meeting location where you can inspect your chosen bunny for health and correct gender.  We do not allow visits to our rabbitry for safety reasons.

If you live a further distance, many options are available, such as picking up from a rabbit show we are attending, or transport for a fee by a rabbit transport service. You will need to make arrangements for the date and time of pickup.  Depending on distance, in some cases, we can agree to transport for a fee.

Do you guarantee your rabbits?

We strive to produce the healthiest rabbits possible.  Once the rabbit is in your care, we cannot control its environment, stress level, or feeding.  If a rabbit dies within 24 hours due to health issues that were in our control, we will replace it with a similar rabbit, although if we do not have an abundance of rabbits, you may have to wait for a replacement to be born and mature enough to be separated from its mother.

What if in the future, I can't keep my bunny?

We hope that your bunny has a long happy life with you, its new owner.  In some cases, situations arise in which you cannot maintain care of your bunny.  We do not wish to see any of our bunnies relinquished to an animal rescue or shelter.  Please contact us first, and we will do our best to help find a new home for your bunny.
